NODE is also a node between artists, technologists and the public. NODE wants to facilitate the sharing of knowledge on both art production and the technique behind it and make it available to everyone.
Therefore the event is a week-long rush of theoretical and practical workshops and lectures, exhibitions, artist presentations and discussions with visitors from all over the world. Hence, it's not only a forum for presenting, but also for the production of arts, ideas, and viewpoints.
Every year NODE invites some of the most established producers of digital arts as well as local artists to show their work in an exhibition on the forum's topic, give insight into their production during the nightly talks and share their knowledge at hands-on workshops during the day.
NODE emerged in 2008 from an initiative of associates of MESO, who at the same time had been developers and users of the graphical programming language vvvv. Ever since vvvv was made publicly available, it has attracted an increasing amount of users from the digital arts sphere and has become one of the most-widely used softwares amongst producers of creative media who are artists and technologists at the same time. Naturally, there has always been a spirit of sharing knowledge and exchanging ideas within and through these. NODE picks up this spirit and aims to broaden its scope across media, professions and cultures.
