[Texte disponible uniquement en anglais] Sound in space does not work like sound in headphones. An immersive environment has its own acoustic geometry — depth, direction, movement — and designing audio for such a space requires a radically different approach from traditional production.
"Immersive Spaces with Ableton" is a six-hour hands-on workshop in which participants explore the possibilities offered by Ableton Live for creating audio for immersive environments: spatialisation, multi-channel sound design, synchronisation with real-time visual systems. Not abstract theory, but concrete work: each participant operates directly on the software, building and testing solutions in a real context.
The workshop takes place in MAM's immersive room — 300 sqm, 27 projectors, an audio system designed for live performance — a space where every sonic choice is truly felt, in its full extension. Guided by the experience of Donato Panaccio — sound engineer, producer and teacher whose path spans the Abbey Road Institute, SAE London and over fifteen years in the international music industry — participants leave the workshop with concrete tools and a direct understanding of what it means to design sound for space.
The work produced during the session feeds into the broader creative process of the residencies underway at MAM, contributing to the program's final public Output event.
