With over 20 years’ experience, the group’s activities range from staging shows, producing short films, and organizing exhibits and conferences, to programming theatrical seasons, workshops and festivals. It has also set up projects linking the language of the theatre with the reality of contemporary life thanks to the use of social aggregation and the expression of a shared experience.
With a pressing need to involve its public in the creative process, the group has created a series of regional projects which, since 2006, have received financial contributions from Regione Lazio as well as from the Provincia di Roma.
The group’s research and artistic inspiration is stimulated by the rich cultural, social and historical backdrop of the locations chosen.
For the two-year period from 2010-2011, Settimo Cielo was awarded the artistic direction of the Cultural program for the region of Lazio. This marked the beginning of Nasce Officina E.S.T. – Esperimenti Sul Territorio, a full-time workshop whose mission is to animate spaces, whether theatres or historical sites, throughout the eastern province of Rome from Tivoli to Subiaco, by organizing workshops, shows and festivals.
In June 2014, Officina E.S.T. was once again awarded artistic direction for this region for 2014-2016.
