FREMEN live! Silent Cinema Soundscapes
[Texte disponible uniquement en anglais] Silent movies were never scored in silence. Live music and improvisation have always been an integral part of silent movie screenings. FREMEN’s electronic music LIVE act will replace the soundtrack for silent cinema pieces traditionally provided by orchestras and classical musicians.

FREMEN (Natalia Wójcik) will reimagine the soundscapes of two experimental short films from the silence cinema era: a dadaist piece “Ghost Before Breakfast” (1928) by Hans Richter as well as an avant-garde “Meshes of the Afternoon” (1943) by Maya Deren and Alexander Hammid.

The music performance will involve manipulation of samples to the visual narrative of the movies.
