Toa Mata Band Live
[Texte disponible uniquement en anglais] Would you ever have thought that the legos of your childhood, jealously kept in the attic, could come alive and give life to an electronic music band worthy of the best dancefloors?
The desire to experiment with a Lego passionate sound designer and the need to animate his old machines for too long in the drawer, gave birth to the Toa Mata Band project.
The mechatronic orchestra conceived and conceived by Giuseppe Acito in his Opificio Sonico studio, is composed of eight small characters from the LEGO Bionicle series, programmed to play drum synths, acoustic percussions and smartphones.

Every "member" of the band is animated through a simple and ingenious system of motors, pulleys and elastic bands, from a MIDI sequencer and controlled by Aurduino Uno, the made in Italy microcontroller that has conquered the world.

The project debuted on the web with the video clip "EPISODE1" published on You Tube in March 2013, which in a very short time attracted the attention of thousands of fans from all over the world, as well as having deserved admired blog posts by Wired, FACT Magazine , The Creators Project, Arduino, Make Magazine, Discovery News, Rolling Stone and many others.

In the last three years TMB has performed in many festivals in Europe including: Electron (Geneva), Robot Festival (Bologna), Cafe neu Romance (Prague), Maker Faire (Rome, Jerusalem), Sziget Festival (Budapest), Music Tech Fest (Berlin), Medimex (Bari).

In November 2015 TMB performed during Audi-O-Rama, a three-day symposium held in Verbier (CH) where 5 avant-garde music icons (JMJarre, G.Moroder, A.Fletcher, Timo Maas, L. Anderson) and 15 international members of the recording industry have tried to redefine the future of music.
