MUTANTE: BRECCIA is a journey from stone to voice.
The performance moves through different forms of urban memory: a city first carved into marble, then fractured by the breach of Porta Pia, before opening onto contemporary voices, images and sound. Stone, dust, sand and granular matter remain a continuous visual language throughout the performance: memory changes form, but never completely disappears.
01 — STONE / FORMA URBIS
The journey begins with the Forma Urbis Romae, the monumental marble plan of ancient Rome produced around 203–211 CE. The city was literally carved into stone: streets, buildings and monuments became physical traces engraved into marble.
For the prototype, I used an image from Reading the City — “Roma: the Severan Marble Plan” and transformed it into a PLY point cloud. Instead of simply looking at an archaeological image, the camera can enter it, move through its surface and penetrate its different layers.
This first sequence represents material memory: history is present in the stone, but it remains silent.
